PRACTICAL PROJECT GUIDE
Coordinate the interfaces before they reach the site.
HVAC, piping and insulation share equipment, routes, supports, access and completion requirements. Early coordination helps the agreed package fit the space and the installation sequence.
1. Work from a common basis.
Confirm current drawings, equipment schedules, specifications and scope boundaries. Identify who owns design decisions, drawing revisions and each system interface.
2. Coordinate space and access.
Review routes, supports, equipment connections and service clearances together. Include the space required for insulation, cladding, inspection and future maintenance.
3. Align responsibilities.
Make supports, penetrations, electrical/control interfaces, specialist inputs and associated civil works explicit. Record who supplies, installs, inspects and completes each interface.
4. Sequence installation and release points.
Coordinate fabrication, installation, connection checks and specified testing before closing or insulating work where access would be affected. Confirm the actual release requirements for the package.
5. Plan insulation details.
Agree the material, duty, finish, access and removable-section requirements. Consider valves, instruments, equipment interfaces, cold-service details and reinstatement after maintenance.
6. Keep completion information connected.
Record changes, observations, inspection/test evidence and the information required for handover. The final documents should reflect the connected installation and its agreed responsibilities.
